
Brockville – On April 9, 2026, at approximately 1:15pm, police received a call from Canadian Tire on Pakedale Avenue, about a 39-year-old male, who in progress of shoplifting.
Information was that a Loss Prevention Officer was currently in a physical altercation with the subject and was attempting to hold him at the scene. During the struggle it was noted that a pistol fell out of the subject’s waistband to the floor.
Officers arrived on scene quickly and took the subject into custody. The pistol in question was found to be a BB pistol; however, it was not used in making any threats during the incident.
The subject was searched and they were found to be in possession of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, and concealed merchandise valued at approximately $143.00.
The merchandise was recovered and no one was seriously injured as a result of the confrontation.
The subject was charged and scheduled for a future court date for the offences listed below:
- Theft Under $5,000.00
- Obstruct Person in Lawful Seizure
- Fail to Comply with Probation
