Elizabethtown-Kitley – Elizabethtown-Kitley Township Councillor Rob Smith announced his candidacy for mayor of Elizabethtown-Kitley in the October municipal election earlier this week.
“I’m excited to announce my mayoral candidacy for Elizabethtown-Kitley in the upcoming October municipal election. With more than 40 years of dedication to my community, I bring extensive leadership and municipal experience as both an elected official and former municipal employee. I’m committed to fostering a strong, respectful, and productive relationship between Council, staff, and residents,” said Smith in a Facebook post.
He stated that if elected, some of his priorities would include, improving municipal roads, continuing development of the North Augusta Road property as a future business park, potential of the Frankville Public School as a community hub and service centre and advocating for increased investment in local infrastructure, including improvements to County Roads.
Smith also said he would work to improve relationships between council, staff, and resident along with regional partners to advocate for increased provincial and federal funding.
“I will strengthen customer service and public communication, while encouraging greater community involvement across the township’s hamlets – because, I believe working together delivers results,” continued Smith.
The 2026 municipal election is set for Monday, October 26th.
