Athens – The Clay Studio Collective is hosting its 3rd Annual PLANT KINDNESS Event at their community pottery studio in Athens, Ontario on Sunday May 3. The fundraiser celebrates the coming of spring with handmade pottery, blooming flowers, and gathering with the community.

“We look forward to this every year,” said Donna Haycock, Executive Chair at the Clay Studio Collective and co-organizer of the yearly event. “Our members have handmade over 100 pieces for this year’s event, each one unique in decoration and glaze.”

These pieces get potted with a plant or hold a floral arrangement, also designed by the members of the studio.

“I’m truly in awe of all the talent at the CSC,” Haycock went on to say. “So many of our members are not just clay artists, but also painters, bakers, gardeners, and florists. This event brings so many passions together that celebrate the joy of creating and sharing that with others.” “We are beyond grateful for the support from our community, since we opened our doors in 2014!” said Haycock.

Proceeds from PLANT KINDNESS go towards ongoing facility improvements, which support students, members and, recently, children’s Public School programs. Last year, the studio raised enough to renovate their glaze room with new floors and cabinetry.

This year, their goal is to build a more sustainable studio practice, improving their clay and water recycling system, and building a tool-sharing library.

Tickets for the event are $40, which includes a choice of pottery with a floral arrangement and afternoon tea. There will also be a Silent Auction and a Pop-Up Pottery Sale to browse handmade wares, such as mugs, bowls and sculptures.
