Brockville – Local resident Bianca Timmerman is running for a seat at Brockville City Council.
She joins retired accountant Randy Chase as the only registered candidates running for city council so far.
“I believe housing affordability remains one of the most important conversations happening in our community today,” Timmerman said in a Facebook post. “I want to support collaborative conversations between council, developers, organizations, and community partners to explore sustainable ways to increase affordable housing opportunities while encouraging thoughtful growth within Brockville.”
Timmerman went on to say in the post, that speaking with members of the community about the realities people are facing every day, those conversations have helped shape some of the priorities she wants to advocate for throughout this campaign.
Some of the issues:
- Advocating for reducing unnecessary barriers for local businesses
- Improving communication and accessibility between the City and entrepreneurs
- Increased investment into smaller snow removal and maintenance equipment specifically designed for pedestrian pathways, sidewalks, and highly trafficked walking routes
- Creating meaningful opportunities that help youth feel connected, engaged, supported, and empowered before they ever reach the point of crime
- Advocate for stronger mentorship opportunities, expanded arts and recreation initiatives, increased community partnerships, and more opportunities for youth leadership and workforce development within Brockville
- Creating additional community garden spaces throughout Brockville
“I would also like to work toward creating additional community garden spaces throughout Brockville by identifying underutilized public spaces that could be transformed into accessible food-growing areas for residents and families,” said Timmerman. “I believe these spaces can help support food security, affordability, sustainability, education, and stronger community connection.”
“At the heart of all of this is one simple belief: people deserve to feel connected to their community and hopeful about its future,” Timmerman continued. “I’m looking forward to continuing conversations across Brockville, listening to residents, learning from different perspectives, and working toward thoughtful, community-focused solutions together.”
The deadline for candidates to register their names to run for council is August 24th.
