Brockville — Sherwood Park Manor is pleased to announce that the City of Brockville has successfully fulfilled its one-time commitment of $500,000 to our ongoing capital redevelopment project.

This significant milestone marks a major step forward in our mission to modernize long-term care infrastructure and ensures our community’s seniors, and those most in need, continue to receive exceptional, compassionate care in a state-of-the-art environment.

The City’s generous contribution serves as a significant step towards completing our community-based fundraising efforts, reflecting a shared, steadfast dedication to the health and well-being of the region’s most vulnerable population. By finalizing this pledge, the City of Brockville is directly supporting our efforts to build a safer, more accessible, and technologically advanced home for those we serve.

A Shared Vision for Care:

“We are incredibly grateful for the City of Brockville’s unwavering partnership,” said Ken Durand Sr., Chair of the Board at Sherwood Park Manor. “Reaching the completion of this pledge is a transformative moment for the home. It not only provides the necessary resources to continue moving our construction timeline forward but also stands as a testament to the City’s commitment to prioritizing the dignity and comfort of our residents for generations to come.”

“Sherwood Park Manor has been caring for members of our community for decades, and this redevelopment will help ensure that legacy continues for generations to come,” adds Mayor Matt Wren. “The City of Brockville is proud to have fulfilled its commitment to this important project. This achievement reflects the power of community partnerships and a shared commitment to caring for our seniors.”

Status and Impact of the Redevelopment:

The redevelopment at Sherwood Park Manor is designed to transform the resident experience through several key enhancements including modernized facilities that will transition room configurations to prioritize resident privacy, infection control, and accessibility. It also builds on common rooms and community-inspired spaces, creating new, inviting areas for dining, recreation, and family visits to promote a vibrant, home-like atmosphere.

In addition, the redeveloped home will implement the latest safety technologies and energy-efficient systems to ensure a secure and sustainable environment, while addressing the growing demand for long-term care beds within the Brockville region to meet local need. While construction timelines have experienced setbacks, the home is expected to see major project completion later this year.

“Having served on the Board and worked closely with the fundraising team, I have seen firsthand the incredible impact this redevelopment will have on our community members,” added Mayor Brant Burrow, Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley. “Seeing our regional partners come together to support this vision has been truly inspiring. This investment is about more than just infrastructure, it is a commitment to the long-term health and well-being of the seniors who have helped build the foundation of our region.”
