SIU Investigating Death of Man in Brockville Following Police-Involved Shooting

Brockville – The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 28-year-old man last night in Brockville.

Preliminary information suggests the following:

• At approximately 7:45 p.m. on August 6, 2026, OPP officers attended a residence in the area of King Street West and Broad Street to execute a warrant.
• Upon entering the residence, officers encountered the man.
• There was an interaction, and one officer discharged his firearm. The man was struck.
• The man was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case. The post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow morning in Kingston.
