A Youth is Now Facing Numerous Charges Following a Series of Incidents for Failing to Stop for Police
At the beginning of August, a 17-year-old, male was charged for numerous traffic related offences after he failed to stop for police while operating a blue Yamaha sport motorcycle.
Some of the charges included stunt driving, failing to stop, and multiple insurance and permit related offences along with a 14-day impound of the motorcycle.
On August 26, 2026, an officer attempted to stop the blue Yamaha motorcycle in the area of Stewart Boulevard and Centennial Road. The driver failed to stop and could not be positively identified at that time; however, it was suspected that the same male was the driver.
On August 27, 2026, at approximately 11:30pm, an officer observed the blue Yamaha motorcycle travelling on North Augusta Road.
When efforts were made to stop the motorcycle, the driver again failed to stop for police. Based on the information gathered from an investigation, officers believed the motorcycle was the same one involved in previous incidents.
The investigation led officers to the area of Kensington Parkway, where a short time later, officers observed the motorcycle travelling in the area and entered the Kensington Plaza parking lot.
Once parked, officers moved in and prevented the motorcycle from leaving. The rider, identified as same 17-year-old, male then attempted to flee on foot.
Officers pursued the male on foot, entering a nearby apartment building, where he was arrested. The male did resist arrest, but control was gained quickly without incident.
As a result of the investigation, the subject has been charged with:
- Flight from Police
- Resisting Arrest
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Additional Highway Traffic Act offences
- Seven-Day Vehicle Impoundment
The subject was later released with conditions and a future court date.
