Athens Lost 6-2 to the Renfrew Timberwolves on Sunday in EOJHL

Athens – The Athens Aeros lost a 6-2 decision to the Renfrew Timberwolves last Sunday in EOJHL action in Athens.

Renfrew pulled away in the third period to secure the convincing 6–2 road win over Athens.

The Timberwolves answered an early Athens goal in the second period, with Nathan Pederson and Mannix Hart scoring to give Renfrew the lead. Athens briefly evened things late in the frame, but Renfrew took control for good in the third.

Connor Hanniman scored early on the power play to put Renfrew ahead, before Hart added his second of the night. Lucas Smith followed with his first of the season, and Ian Burnett iced the game with an empty-net marker in the final minute.

Dylan Elliott delivered a strong performance in goal for Renfrew, stopping 33 of 35 shots, while Nicholas Periard saw 42 shots in the loss for Athens.

Renfrew improved to 18-15-2-2, while Athens dropped to 12-18-4-1.

The Aeros travel to Smiths Falls on Friday night to play the Junior Bears. The puck drops at 7:30 pm.
