
Brockville – Brockville City Council celebrated local radio personality Bruce Wylie at Tuesday’s regular council meeting, declaring Tuesday, April 7th as Bruce Wylie Appreciation Day.
The proclamation was made in celebration of Wylie’s fifty-five years in radio as the “unmistakable voice of Brockville, distinguishing himself through an extraordinary and influential broadcasting career.”
Wylie who began at the radio station, then CFJR in 1971 will be retiring from the airwaves on Tuesday, April 7th, his final day on the air. A retirement party is planned for that evening at the Brockville Legion from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The proclamation stated, throughout his decades on the airwaves, he has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty in his dedication to the City of Brockville and the broader communities of Leeds and Grenville.
“His tireless commitment to community service has helped raise millions of dollars in support of charitable organizations, improving the lives of countless residents. Wylie also has enriched the cultural fabric of our community by championing local heritage and talent, including the establishment of the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame, the Brockville and Area Music and Performing Arts Hall of Fame, and by playing a pivotal role in the creation of beloved community traditions such as Riverfest and the Ookpik Winter Carnival, among many other initiatives,” said the proclamation.
After an exceptional career marked by integrity, passion, and unwavering community spirit, Bruce Wylie is preparing to sign off for the final time and begin a richly deserved retirement. His last broadcast will be the morning show on April 7th.
“Brockville City Council formally recognizes and commends Bruce Wylie for his extraordinary contributions, his exemplary service, and his enduring legacy within our community; and that Council hereby proclaims Tuesday, April 7, 2026, as Bruce Wylie Appreciation Day in the City of Brockville, in honour of his remarkable impact and lifelong dedication to the people he has so faithfully served,” the proclamation stated.
As well, city council proclaimed April 1, 2026, as 104.9 My FM Radio Day in the City of Brockville, to mark the radio station’s 100th anniversary on April 1, 2026, celebrating a century of broadcasting excellence and community connection.
