Brockville – At Tuesday night’s Brockville City Council meeting, council proclaimed April 1, 2026, as 104.9 My FM Radio Day in the City of Brockville, to mark the radio station’s 100th anniversary on April 1, 2026, celebrating a century of broadcasting excellence and community connection.

“Local radio station 104.9 My FM has long been a mainstay in the City of Brockville and the surrounding region, with roots extending back a full century,” the proclamation stated.

The station first began broadcasting under the call letters CFLC from Prescott Town Hall, making it one of Canada’s earliest radio broadcasters, later evolving into CFBR in downtown Brockville, later CFJM and ultimately in 1950 becoming the well-known CFJR, a trusted voice in the community.

The proclamation went on to say, “throughout its history, 104.9 My FM has demonstrated an enduring commitment to community service, providing vital local news, emergency information, and support for countless charitable and cultural initiatives.”

The radio station will officially mark its 100th anniversary on April 1, 2026, celebrating a century of broadcasting excellence and community connection.

“Therefore be it resolved that the Council of the City of Brockville hereby proclaims April 1, 2026, as 104.9 My FM Radio Day in the City of Brockville, in recognition of the station’s remarkable legacy and its ongoing contributions to our community.”
