Brockville – Join us as we celebrate the warm weather and nostalgia that the changing season brings with the first of our spring series “The Ephemeral Gallery Showcase”.
The one night only concert takes place on April 25 with unique songwriters from South Eastern Ontario performing on Downtown Brockville Art Supply Store Medium Effort’s “Speak-Easy” style stage. The event will be enhanced by the shop’s gallery wall featuring a rotating display of local and regional artwork.
Opening the evening is Dana Dufour, a singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario, known for telling stories through music. By combining her crooner-like voice with sincere lyricism, Dufour brings a soft and soulful element to the indie-folk genre. Her single “Foucault’s Pendulum” exemplifies this by blending honest songwriting with compelling sonic textures.
Years to Burn, a collaborative project between Janessa van Koppen and Oji-Cree First Nations electronic music artist Jakean (Keaton), will be performing stripped-down versions of their “indie synth-pop” tracks. The duo’s music explores themes of paralyzing and romanticized nostalgia, the passage of time, grief, and personal experiences, blending ballads with upbeat tracks and drawing influence from artists such as Metric, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Justice, Madeon, and Porter Robinson.
Gabriel Comba, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist hailing from Ottawa is set to headline the showcase. Gabriel Comba will be celebrating the release of his debut album ‘Over The Moon’ with new stories and material to share with the audience “Comba creates heartfelt music and art, blending emotion and imagination drawn from the worlds within his mind. His songwriting consistently explores themes of love and fear.
Driven by a deep passion for storytelling, Comba writes songs that live between the mundane and the fantastical; always honest, often dreamlike, as heard in tracks like “Maurice My Pet Dragon”. Wearing his heart on his sleeve he delivers emotionally resonant music that has allowed him to create his own artistic universe, both in his music and visual art.” – R.V.R via Spotify.
