
Leeds County – Several drivers have had their licences suspended and vehicles impounded following impaired driving investigations.
Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue proactive patrols and have responded to numerous traffic complaints and collisions involving suspected impaired drivers. This month alone, the following drivers were arrested:
On April 2, 2026, a vehicle struck an unoccupied vehicle and the driver failed to remain on scene. Brandon CARRIERE, 25 of Cornwall, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Fail to remain
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
On April 4, 2026, a vehicle was safely stopped on Highway 401 after police received multiple traffic complaints. Sarah CHRISTENSEN, 36 of Kitchener, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to stop for police
- Driver motor vehicle – perform stunt (196 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone)
On April 5, 2026, a vehicle with open liquor entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program. An approved screening device was utilized and the driver was arrested. Corey Arthur CAMERON, 46 of Portland, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Driving while under suspension
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
On April 8, 2026, a worried member of the public reported a vehicle in the ditch. Deborah JACKSON, 71 of Athens, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Careless driving
