Brockville – The Brockville Police Service issued a press release on Wednesday with the names that are believed to be the victims of the triple homicide from last week in the city.

In the release Inspector Darryl Boyd said the following: “The Brockville Police Service is responding to numerous inquiries regarding the identities of the victims involved in last week’s triple homicide.”

“We would like to remind the public that information circulating through social media posts or other media reports does not meet the standard required for official confirmation of identity in relation to criminal proceedings.” he continued.

The release went on to say that while investigators continue to await official identification, it can be shared that the victims are believed to be the following:

Louwanda Elliott (Wanda, mother) – 49 years old.
Mackayla Elliott – 17 years old.
Nikita Elliott – 15 years old.

A celebration of life is planned Friday for the three victims at the Brockville Wesleyan Church at the corner of Central Ave and Ferguson Drive at 2 p.m. Family members say the gathering will also be livestreamed through the church website for those unable to attend in person.

The family is asking people not to bring flowers. Instead, they say anyone who wants to help can make a donation to support family expenses connected to the coming baby.

Around 11:30 am last Thursday, police responded to a 911 call reporting the deaths of three individuals at a residence on Cartier Court. Officers arrived promptly and confirmed that three individuals were found deceased inside the residence. Based on evidence at the scene, the deaths were deemed as suspicious in nature.

Police said a 17-year-old, Brockville youth believed to be connected to this incident was located at an address on the outskirts of Brockville, arrested and taken in to custody for three counts of first-degree murder and assaulting a police officer.

The accused and the victims are known to one another, and police have confirmed this was not a random incident.

Police said the accused appeared for a bail hearing on Friday and will not be named as their identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

In a statement from the city Friday afternoon, “The City of Brockville extends its deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, friends, and all those impacted by the tragic events that occurred on Cartier Court on Thursday, May 7.”

“On behalf of the City of Brockville, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims,” said Mayor Matt Wren. “Brockville is a strong and compassionate community. We will continue to support one another and stand together during this incredibly difficult time. As a gesture of sympathy and solidarity, flags at City facilities have been lowered.”

The Brockville Police Service is committed to conducting investigations with the highest level of care, accuracy, and attention to detail.

As this investigation remains in its early stages, the police continue to ask for the public’s patience as investigators work diligently to ensure a thorough and complete process.
