Brockville Rowing Club Celebrates New Eight-Person Racing Shell and Community Excellence on the St. Lawrence River This Saturday

Brockville – The historic Brockville Rowing Club will welcome athletes, alumni, community leaders and supporters on Saturday, May 30, 2026, for the christening of its newest eight-person racing shell, “The Goose,” generously donated by Steve Warwick and a special award presentation of the C. Doug Marshall Trophy to Calla Webster, recognizing her exceptional rowing achievements and her dedication to the club.

The event will take place at the Brockville Rowing Club boathouse on the St. Lawrence River starting at 10:00 am and marks another milestone for one of Canada’s oldest and most respected rowing clubs.

The Award Presentation & Christening will start at 11:00 AM sharp.

The Brockville Rowing Club has been a fixture on the St. Lawrence River since 1894 and recently celebrated 130 years of rowing history. The club offers programs for all ages and skill levels, including youth camps, learn-to-row, high school rowing, recreational and masters rowing, dryland training, and competitive development programs.

Known throughout the rowing community as a small club that consistently “punches above its weight,” the BRC has developed athletes who have gone on to provincial, national and international competition, while remaining deeply rooted in community participation and accessibility.

Located on the St. Lawrence River in the heart of Brockville, the club offers one of the most scenic rowing environments in the region and serves members from across Eastern Ontario, including communities between Kingston and Ottawa. The club’s history is intertwined with Canada’s rowing heritage, with roots tracing back to rowing activity in Brockville as early as the 1840s.

Founded in 1894, the Brockville Rowing Club is one of Canada’s oldest rowing clubs and a cornerstone of rowing in Eastern Ontario. The club promotes and develops athletes at all experience levels through learn-to-row, recreational, youth, high school and competitive programming as well as high quality summer camps. Its mission is to foster lifelong participation in rowing while developing athletic excellence, teamwork, wellness and community connection on the St. Lawrence River.
