Forthton – Mother Nature gave it her best shot to end the racing program before it even started on L.A. Knapp Incorporated night this past Saturday at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Heavy rains hit the speedway all afternoon, however the rain moved out, track crews went to work and a busy card of racing took the green flag later in the evening.
The night kicked off with the held over 15 lap Mini Stock feature from last week and Charles Marchand took control at the drop of the green with Pierre Picard and Hayden Brown right there with him. Marchand and Picard battled for the lead but on lap 3, both drivers came into contact with an infield tire, bringing out the yellow. This left Hayden Brown up front with Mike Saunders and Carl Gorry there to challenge. Brown and Gorry battled hard for the lead but in the end, it was Hayden Brown picking up win number 1 of the year. Carl Gorry crossed in second, ahead of Maxx Steele, Terry McClelland and Tyson Slinger. Brown Picked up the extra $300 bonus for the win from Global EMS and Rescue, while Jarrod Galway collected the $50 Hard Charger award from Sandra Graham and Mike Saunders of the Talk Dirt To Me Podcast. The 2021 track champion moved 14 spots from 23rd to 9th at checkers.
The Empire Super Sprints were in town for the first of two appearances in 2026. Davie Franek set the 360 Sprint Car track record with an impressive 11.753 second lap in the heat race. In the feature several early yellow slowed the start of the race. Once the laps clicked off it was Matt Tanner taking the lead over Alex Therrien and Jordan Poirier. Tanner and Therrien both battled hard all race long and eventually encountered lapped traffic. On lap 18 Therrien was able to sneak by off turn two to grab the lead. Lapped cars again were a factor as Tanner was able to get close with only 3 laps remaining. Therrien remained focused, cleared the traffic and marched on to his 2nd series win of the year and 1st ever at Brockville. Zach Sobotka came across in 2nd despite heavy front wing damage early in the night. Jason Barney, Matt Tanner and Jordan Porier completed the top 5.
The DIRTCar Sportsman North Regional Series round number 2 took to the fast speedway next as Michael Dillon took control of the lead for the opening 4 laps with Gavin Eisele and Jeffrey Lapalme right there to challenge. With a fast track it made it hard to pass, however on lap 9 Gavin Eisele made his way to the front with Lapalme following him to the runner up spot. By lap 15 Eisele and Lapalme started to battle through lapped cars, but a caution for Jordan Wood in turn two, gave them clear race track. The green came back out but it was short lived as the yellow flew the same lap, followed by the red, as Matt Mould tipped over on his side on the front stretch. Mould was not injured and the car was towed to the pits. When the green flew Eisele remained in control but Jeffrey Lapalme was doing all he could to stay close as defending series champion Shane Pecore made his way to third. The yellow would fly on lap 32 for a tangle involving Dylan Kirkland and Dylan Moore. Moore was towed to the pits while Kirkland continued on. On the final restart Gavin Eisele was able to drive away from both Jeffrey Lapalme and Shane Pecore for his 5th career DIRTCar Sportsman Series win and 2nd win in a row at Brockville in 2026. Jeffrey Lapalme had a career best second over defending series champion Shane Pecore. North Region Points leader Brennan Moore finished a strong 4th with Tristan Ladouceur 5th.
The remaining features for the DIRTCar 358 Modifieds and Mini Stocks were postponed to future dates due to the length of the program. Stay tuned to the website at brockvillespeedway.com and our Social Media pages for the make up dates, which will be announced soon.
