Results From Brockville Bunnies Canada Day Games & This Past Weekend’s Floyd Rock Memorial tournament in Plattsburgh NY

Brockville – The Brockville Bunnies split the two games on Canada Day, winning game one 4-0 and dropping the second game 10-0 versus the Montreal Diamonds16u.

Then this past weekend they were in Plattsburgh NY at the Floyd Rock Memorial tournament winning 3 of their 4 games.

Canada Day Game 1 – Bunnies 4 Diamonds 0:

Aaron Roy, Taylor Brayton and Max DeCoteau combined pitching the shutout. Wyatt ‘Cap’ Last singled and crushed a deep homerun to left up in the trees. Matt Barkley (S,D) and Nolan Orazietti with two hits each, while Lukus Doak with an RBI single.

Canada Day Game 2 – Bunnies 0 Diamonds 10:

JJ Easton struggled with control giving up 2 hits, 4 walks and a 3-run homer as the Bunnies fall behind 4-0 early. Nick Beach went 2 scoreless innings to give Brockville a chance for a comeback.

Eamon Morrison had one solid inning throwing the ball, then loses control in the second inning, only giving up one hit, but walks 5. Young guys still trying to figure out how to be consistent. Barkley finished up.

The bats went stone cold in the game as Bunnies only manage a Zadok Roiger double and Last single as Bunnies couldn’t take advantage of 7 walks.

Big Thanks to the Roiger family for cooler full of ice cold water in the dugout which was much appreciated on such a warm day.

The Brockville Bunnies had a great weekend in Plattsburgh NY at the Floyd Rock Memorial tournament this past weekend, winning 3 of their 4 games including a tough 5-4 loss in the finals to Watson Elite19u.

Floyd Rock Memorial Tournament Game 1 – Bunnies 3 Clinton County 2:

The Bunnies beat Clinton County 3-2 after the game went one extra inning.

Zadok Roiger finally trusted his fastball and went 7 solid innings giving up 6 hits, 2 earned runs, with 9 k’s getting the win.

Matt Barkley had the save, and Parker Ames had 2 hits. Roiger doubled (RBI) with singles by Aaron Roy (RBI), Lukus Doak and Nolan Orazietti.

Floyd Rock Memorial Tournament Game 2 – Bunnies 5 – Vermont Strikers 4:

The Bunnies scored 3 in the seventh for a comeback win. Tough blow for the Bunnies as starting shortstop Wyatt Last gets run into fielding a ground ball and would be out for remainder of tournament.

Charlie Todd went 4.1 innings giving up 3 earned runs with 7 k’s. JJ Easton picks up the win with 2.2 solid innings in relief giving up 1 hit with 4 k’s. Barkley with 2 doubles, singles by Roiger (2 RBIs), Mark Bowlby (RBI), Ames, Doak, Todd, James Spooner and Taylor Brayton. Eamon Morrison with a RBI groundout.

Floyd Rock Memorial Tournament Game 3 – Game 3 – Bunnies 13 Watson 9:

The last round robin game ended up just being a friendly game as both Canadian teams had punched tickets to the finals so gave both teams a chance to get more kids involved.

Morrison struggled early, giving up 7 in the first (including a 3 run shot to right) but showed some fight only allowing 1 run over next 3 innings. Brayton went 1 scoreless inning as the game was mutually called after 5 innings so teams could get home at decent hour.

The team didn’t quit after falling behind big. Barkley ( 2S,HR,3 RBIs) and Roiger (3 RBIs) with 3 hits each. Barkley got his 4th homerun of the season and ties him with Vladdy. Brayton with 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while Roy and Pierce Stewart (RBI) both doubled and Doak (RBI) singled.

Floyd Rock Memorial Tournament – Game 4 Finals Watson 5 Bunnies 4:

The Brockville Bunnies were up 4-0 going into the sixth inning but give up 5 runs (only 1 earned) and couldn’t get it back. Roy with an outstanding start going 5.2 and giving up 7 hits, 0 earned runs with 4 k’s. Barkley takes the loss giving up 1 earned run in 1.1 innings in relief.

Roy helped himself with 2 hits (S,D,RBI), while Roiger (RBI) and Todd (RBI) both doubled. Barkley (S, 2 BB, RBI), and Ames and Bowlby with singles.

All in all a great weekend with contributions from everyone up and down the lineup.

Bunnies play at home this Saturday versus the Reds Academy in doubleheader starting at 11:00 am before travelling to Montreal on Sunday to take on Diamonds16u in Can-Am league action.
