SLC’s Music Theatre – Performance Program Presents Cabaret and The Rocky Horror Show

Brockville – St. Lawrence College’s Music Theatre – Performance program invites the community to experience the energy of live theatrical performances at their upcoming productions of Cabaret and The Rocky Horror Show.

Cabaret

St. Lawrence College’s production of Cabaret will run March 31-April 2, 2023, at the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque.

Based on a 1939 novel by Christopher Isherwood and a 1951 play by John Van Druten, Cabaret features music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.

In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920s drew to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Musical numbers include “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” and “Two Ladies.”

Tickets are available from the Thousand Islands Playhouse box office for $30 + HST and ticket fees.

The Rocky Horror Show

St. Lawrence College’s production of Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show will be on stage at the Brockville Arts Centre for four performances April 14-16, 2023.

In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.”

Tickets are available from the Brockville Arts Centre box office.

Book, Music, and Lyrics by Richard O’Brien. The Rocky Horror Show is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. www.concordtheatricals.com
