SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: Freezing rain likely Tuesday night followed by rain Wednesday

Brockville – Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Brockville, Leeds-Grenville for Tuesday night.

Freezing rain begins Tuesday night or Wednesday morning changing to rain Wednesday afternoon or Wednesday evening. Freezing rain with ice accretion of 5 to 10 mm is possible.

A 6 to 12-hour period of freezing rain appears likely beginning Tuesday night or Wednesday morning before transitioning to rain later Wednesday. The most significant freezing rain is expected in the Ottawa Valley and the highway 17 corridor from Sault Ste. Marie to North Bay. The rain is expected to taper off Wednesday night.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Isolated power outages are possible. Rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm and localized flooding in low-lying areas are possible.
