Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands Celebrating 25 Years This Sunday, June 11th

There will also be a special dedication to Valerie Kines the founder of Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands

Brockville – Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands is celebrating its 25th anniversary this Sunday, June 11th at the ReStore at 3039 County Road 29 just north of Brockville.

The fun-filled day will include lots of cool games, amazing food and super awesome live music!

The celebration runs from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and will feature a cake cutting, food, a live and silent auction and live music by the Liam Deery Project.

As well there will be a special dedication to Valerie Kines the founder of Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands. Kines a former business women and city councillor started the local Habitat for Humanity in 1997.

Valerie Kines died on April 18th, 2017 in Brockville of pancreatic cancer at the age of 80 and in her memory, the Valerie Kines Memorial Scholarship was created. It is awarded to a female student enrolled in the first year Business program at St. Lawrence College in Brockville who shows entrepreneurial spirit, is community-minded, and is active in making a difference in their community.

There will also be the official presentation of an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant which will assist Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands with Strategic Planning Goals and will help to create a strategic plan that will be a vital tool in guiding the organization in the coming years.
