Brockville – A tree dedication ceremony was held on Wednesday, August 16th in St. Lawrence Park in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Brockville Mayor Matt Wren was joined by MP Michael Barrett for the dedication of a Royal Red Maple tree and commemorative benches in St. Lawrence Park to honour the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Four-year-old Sawyer was attending with family and she became a Canadian Citizen recently, so we were very pleased to have her help unveil the plaque.

Funding was provided by the Government of Canada for municipalities to commemorate the Jubilee and it seems very appropriate to plant this tree and place the benches in view of the route Her late Majesty travelled at the time of the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
