Leeds OPP Laid 15 Charges in Two Days

LEEDS COUNTY – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid more than a dozen charges during a commercial vehicle enforcement initiative targeting common offences committed by professional drivers and companies.

Between Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5, 2025, 15 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act, ranging from speeding, equipment violations, hours and service and documentation requirements.

Two traffic stops highlighted the importance of enforcement when it comes to commercial vehicles:

• One tractor-trailer was stopped for speeding and was loaded with dangerous goods. The vehicle was not equipped with a mandatory speed limiter. The driver had been previously charged for speeding offences.
• One tractor-trailer was stopped for speeding. It was hauling a 25,000 kg load and had no mandatory speed limiter.
