Brockville – The City of Brockville announced on Tuesday that the four-month refurbishment of the city’s 72-year-old water tower is now complete.
“The City of Brockville extends its sincere appreciation to the community for their patience and exemplary conservation efforts throughout the four-month refurbishment of the water tower. Your cooperation played a vital role in ensuring the continued reliability of our water system during this important project,” said the city.
The tarps started to be removed last week.
Landmark Municipal Services ULC had the $2.7 M contract for the refurbishment of the water tower, which was built in 1953. They sandblasted the tower, removing the layers of paint, as well as other repairs to the interior portion of the water tower bowl. As well as they updated the safety rails to meet current standards and finished with new paint and a protective coating.
The water tower was last recoated in 2002.

“The City would also wish to acknowledge the dedication of our water operators and engineering staff, whose expertise and commitment were instrumental in completing the work safely and successfully. In addition, the City recognizes the outstanding contributions of Landmark Contracting and MISCO in restoring and revitalizing this significant community landmark,” the city added.
The city says crews are currently cleaning up the site, with the scaffolding coming down in the coming weeks when conditions are favourable.
