Brockville – The mastermind of the Brockville Braves’ coach Matt Ward was working overtime as he juggled his lines and came up with a winning combination in a convincing 6-4 win over Navan Grads.
The Braves need to continue winning games over these higher-placed teams. They can’t look back over their shoulder as they are being pressed in hot pursuit by Hawkesbury, Carleton Place and Renfrew, although they do have 4 games in hand over the Hawks, 6 on CP Canadians and only 1 over Renfrew.
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS:
The one line he kept intact for most of the night was his mystery line of Dervish, Lowry and Vohra. These guys are the most consistent of all lines on the team. They have a nice blend of speed, back checking an oh so physical. They seem to fly under the radar.
They could be labelled the “stealth” line.
The “Brockville” line was split up for most of the night, and they fit in no matter who they were playing with. Lumsden and Carolan played like Lumsden & Carolan. They are exciting to watch.
Brisebois and Eccleston continue to prove their worth.
What can I say about “Peck’s Bad Boy”, Ryan “The Rat” McNally? Game in and game out, he is a fan favourite. I think Harper Cotie described his game perfectly when he mentioned he is all over the ice, knocking someone down or falling to the ice and drawing penalties, blocking shots, and he is the team scoring leader, as he has been all year.
We can’t forget our D Corps. Liam “Dirty” Harry scored a nice goal last night. Will Brauer kept the opposing forwards honest with his strong physical game. For the defence in general, as Martin Brodeur used to say, “If you don’t notice me, I must be playing well”.
And for Nate Galbraith, we only need to point out that, once again, we were outshot but got the win. Thanks, Nate.
