Brockville – It wasn’t a true 5 – 2 game but 2 points are 2 points! I mentioned to Harper Cotie as we exited the rink late last night, I had two (2) takeaways from the game:
- How good the Bears really are
- How close the Braves are to being at their compete level
Video Highlights:
I was hoping Hugo Brisebois’ goal 13 seconds into the game was going to set the tone for the game. It did for the 1st 15 minutes or so as the Braves had numerous quality scoring chances but just couldn’t bury it. Not that they were thwarted by Ruddy in the Bears’ net but the Hockey Gods continue to demand their pound of flesh from the Braves.
Austin Caley was outstanding in the Braves net as the Bears took control of the game. On the first goal he was screened by two players and on the second goal there was 4 bodies between im and the shooter. In the 3rd period he pulled off what was the best save of the year as he dove across his crease to rob the Bears.
I liked last night’s roster and the line combinations in particular. The “Brock” line had a good game. Sled missed a goal early by mere mm. Cohen Gill threw some of the hardest hits of the night and had the Bears defenders backing off. Carter Cuglietta had another good game and proved he could stick his nose in and handle the rough going.
The boys are at it again this afternoon, starting at 4:30 PM in Kemptville.
