
Smiths Falls – The Smiths Falls Bears took a 1–0 series lead following a 3–2 overtime victory over the Brockville Braves on Friday night at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre.
Parker opened the scoring on a power play from Benoit and Heron before Lumsden replied shorthanded.
After a scoreless second period, Dervish gave Brockville the lead on the power play from Buller and Brauer. Rabe tied the game late in regulation from Veltkamp and Heins.
In overtime, Heron secured the winner from Carvalho and Smith. Ruddy made 22 saves on 24 shots for the win, while Caley delivered a strong performance with 60 saves on 63 shots in defeat.
Game two is set for tonight (Sunday, March 22) at the Brockville Centennial Youth Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 pm.
