Brockville – Michael Barrett, Conservative Member of Parliament for Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands—Rideau Lakes, highlighted donations collected for food banks in Grenville County.
This week, Barrett delivered $2,300 and over 50 bags of food to the South Grenville Food for All Food Bank, the Knights of Columbus Kemptville, the Kemptville Salvation Army Food Bank, and the Merrickville Food Cupboard.

The donations were collected at the Roebuck community town hall event on Saturday, March 28, 2026, hosted by Barrett. The food, weighing hundreds of pounds, along with the monetary contributions, will directly support local families.
“With costs still high, I’m grateful to be part of a community where people step up and help each other when it matters. I want to recognize the generosity of everyone who gave to support local families in need,” said MP Barrett.

Food bank use has reached record highs, with visits doubling since 2019. Nearly 20% of visitors are employed but still struggling with the cost of living.
“These organizations do far more than provide groceries. They offer dignity, support, and a sense of community to people who need it most. I want to thank the dedicated staff and volunteers who make that possible,” added Barrett.
