Merrickville – Mayor Cameron and Acting Inspector Briscoe were happy to try out the new pedestrian crossings in Merrickville. There are now three new locations to help keep walkers safe. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and take note of these changes in the village.
GrenvilleOPP is reminding drivers to:
- Slow down when approaching intersections
- Watch for newly posted signage
- Come to a complete stop and wait for the intersection to become clear
- Be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists
- Be extra cautious at night or low-visibility conditions.
Pedestrians are also asked to make eye contact with a driver and ensure the vehicle has stopped before stepping off a curb.
Merrickville has a dedicated crossing guard in place at one of the busier intersections during school hours. Please use extra caution, follow their direction, and watch for children crossing.
Let’s work together to keep our roads safe.
