Brockville – The Brockville Police Service have received multiple reports of individuals being targeted by a text message scam involving someone posing as Service Ontario.
The message claims that you have outstanding fees and warns that your driver’s licence will not be renewed unless payment is made immediately. A link is included in the message — this is fraudulent.
If the link is clicked, victims are directed to a fake website that requests sensitive personal and banking information.
What you need to know:
- Service Ontario does not send text messages requesting payment or banking details.
- Do not click on any links or provide personal information.
- Delete the message immediately.
Police are aware of several reports on April 6th, and say that unfortunately one individual has already fallen victim to this scam.

- Do not engage or respond
- Block the sender
- Contact your financial institution immediately
- Monitor your accounts for suspicious activity
Stay vigilant and help protect others by sharing this information.
