Brockville & Area Sports Hall of Fame Announces Five Newest Inductees for 2026

Brockville – The Brockville & Area Sports Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday five new inductees to be honored, the finalists for Sportsperson of the Year, and Sports Team of the Year, along with Volunteer of the Year and Coach of the Year.

The Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame committee made its decisions on Monday night to induct:

  • Bob Olson, a longtime basketball coach at TISS
  • Teri deLuis, a multi-champion female golfer in Brockville
  • Steve and Ann-Marie Polite of Roebuck who have given massive support to sports in the Brockville, Prescott and Roebuck areas
  • Jeff Seed, a multi-all-star and multiple medal winning fastball player for Canada at Canadian, world and Pan-Am Games championships;
  • Scott Birnie, a minor pro hockey player who helped win the Canadian Senior ‘AA’ championships for Dartmouth in 1987

The five newest inductees bring the total on the wall of the Memorial Centre hall to 175 in the 32nd year of the existence of the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame.

They will be honoured at the Kinsmen Awards Banquet on Thursday, June 11th at the Brockville Legion on Park street with the actual induction ceremony to take place on Friday, June 12th, also at the Legion.

The five finalists for the sportsperson of the year are:

  • TISS basketball and track athlete Victoria Ford,
  • Paralympic swimmer Jack Gill,
  • Canadian kickboxing champion Kristina Mabry
  • Minor pro hockey player Cody Monds
  • All-Ontario high school track and field medal winning champion Emma Morrow

The finalists for the sports team of the year are:

  • Ange Gabriel senior girls basketball
  • Brockville Braves under-13 rep boys hockey
  • Johnstown Jewels under-15 girls Ontario softball champions
  • St. Mary junior girls basketball and
  • TISS senior girls basketball.

Prescott’s Danny Powers will be the recipient of the longtime volunteer award for his involvement in soccer and hockey and Brockville’s Jen Roney will receive the longtime coaching award for her efforts with the St. Lawrence speedskating club.

The committee has also created a special award this year to honour the Geraghty family of Adrian, Sean, Shane, Shannon and Shemus for their longtime coaching and volunteer efforts with Brockville minor soccer.

Tickets for the awards night will soon be going on sale at two locations in the city before the end of the month. The cost will be $30 a ticket.

Only 225 tickets are being sold to the banquet and the deadline for sales will be in early June.

While tickets are necessary to attend the awards banquet and awards on the Thursday, the public is free to attend the Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Friday at the Legion at 5:30 p.m.
