
Nepean – The Kemptville 73’s took a 2-0 lead into the third period and added a late insurance goal to earn a 3-1 victory over the Nepean Raiders on Saturday afternoon during the CCHL Showcase at the Nepean Sportsplex.
Mbarushimana opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the game, assisted by Hennessy and Dickey. D’Arienzo doubled the Kemptville lead later in the period, giving the 73’s a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second period before D’Arienzo scored his second of the game in the third to extend the lead to three.
Nepean responded with a goal from Cantrell, assisted by Pettipas, but the Raiders could not get any closer as Kemptville secured the 3-1 win.
Kemptville outshot Nepean 37-25. Turpin made 24 saves for Kemptville, while Grant stopped 34 shots for Nepean.
