Brockville – Brockville Police Constable Jeffrey Rean has resigned from the Brockville Police Service according to a police statement from Brockville Police Inspector Laurie Bennett on Friday.
Constable Jeffrey Rean was charged with Discreditable Conduct under Sec. 2(1)(a)(ix) of the Code of Conduct, Regulation 268/10, as amended.
Rean was convicted of criminal breach of trust in 2019 and sentenced to 90 days in jail and was suspended from the service in April 2016 but continued to collect his $97,000 annual salary for years under the terms of the former Police Services Act (PSA).
Under the act, officers could only be suspended with pay unless they were sentenced to jail. When he received his sentence his pay was suspended while the Police Service Act process continued.
“Constable Jeffrey Rean has resigned from the Brockville Police Service effective September 30th, 2024. He is no longer a police officer or employed by the Brockville Police Service. As a result of this resignation, all Police Service Act (PSA) matters have been concluded as the service loses jurisdiction over the matter. Brockville Police will be providing no further comment.” said the statement from Inspector Bennett
