Gananoque – In the early morning hours of December 29th, 2024, at approximately 2:45 am, the Gananoque Police and Fire Departments received a call for service regarding a fire in the area of Center Street at Tanner Street.
The investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally set. Despite there being no physical injuries and relatively minor damage to the home, police continued to investigate. On December 30th, 2024, officers were able to identify and arrest a 28-year-old person from Gananoque.
They were charged with Arson – Cause Damage to Property and Possession of Incendiary Material and were held for a show cause bail hearing.
The Gananoque Police Service would like to thank members of the public who assisted police by providing home video surveillance footage.
This assistance allowed for a timely outcome of the investigation. Police are confident that this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.
