This is the official Astronomical Spring, while the a.m. EDT, while the Meteorological Spring began on March 1, 2026 (based on annual temperature cycles).
It is the beginning of the Spring Equinox in the northern hemisphere, when the Sun is directly over the equator.
While many historically considered March 21 as the first day of spring, in the 21st century, the equinox now consistently falls on March 19 or 20 for North America.
