More Jewelry Stolen in Another Distraction Theft

Brockville – The Brockville Police Service previously issued a media release on June 10, 2026, regarding a distraction-style jewelry theft. In that incident, suspects approached a woman in a residential area and attempted to sell her a necklace.

While placing the necklace around her neck, the suspects distracted the victim and swapped her genuine gold necklace with a fake one.

A similar incident occurred on July 4, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m. A dark-coloured SUV with four occupants approached a victim in the area of the Real Canadian Superstore on Parkedale Avenue.

The suspects attempted to sell jewelry to the victim and convinced them to try on a necklace. While placing the necklace on the victim, the suspects removed the necklace the victim was already wearing. The victim did not discover the exchange until after the suspects had left the area.

Police have also received reports of individuals being approached by suspects attempting to sell jewelry. In some cases, purchases were made only for buyers to later discover the jewelry was counterfeit.

The Brockville Police Service reminds the public to remain vigilant and take precautions to protect themselves and their property. Be cautious when approached by individuals selling jewelry or other items in public places. If you experience a similar incident or feel unsafe in any circumstance described above, contact police immediately.
