Gananoque Islanders Downed Tweed Oil Kings 8-6 Last Sunday in EOSHL Action

Tweed – The Gananoque Islanders downed the Tweed Oil Kings 8-6 in Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League action last Sunday in Tweed.

The Islanders were outshot by Tweed 31 to 30 during the game.

Scoring for Gananoque in the first period were, #18 Matt Donovan (#44 Eric Selleck, #92 Brock Higgs), #13 Justynn Steven (#77 Duane Wainman, #6 Jacob Hetherington) and #92 Brock Higgs (#19 Ben Blasko, #77 Duane Wainman).

Tweed picked up two goals in the first.

In the second period, Ben Blasko scored two goals with assists from (#18 Matt Donovan, #92 Brock Higgs) and (#92 Brock Higgs, #44 Eric Selleck) making the score 6-5 Islanders at the end of the period. #10 Chris Latimer (#8 Graeme Brown) also picked up a goal in the second.

#24 Cole Busschaert (#77 Duane Wainman, #13 Justynn Steven) would make it 7-6 for Gananoque in the third, while #19 Ben Blasko (#44 Eric Selleck) would score his 3rd goal of the game helping the Islanders to win 8-6.

Brock Higgs was named first star of the game with one goal, and 4 assists.

The Islanders will host the Madawaska Valley Wolves this Saturday night starting at 7:30 pm at the Lou Jeffries.
