
Brockville – One person faces multiple charges after the driver fled the scene after they were involved in a collision on Highway 401 near Long Beach Police say.
The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say on Thursday, February 20, 2025, shortly after 2:30 a.m., OPP officers were dispatched after reports of a single car crash against a guardrail on Highway 401.
When police arrived at the area, officers found an unattended car obstructing traffic.
Police said the driver had been observed leaving the scene on foot and a short time later, officers located and arrested a suspect who was found to have approximately 90 grams of suspected fentanyl as well as items typically associated with drug trafficking.
OPP say 56-year-old Stacey Blackmore of Kingston was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Obstruct a peace officer
- Careless driving
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to report an accident
- Fail to remain at the scene of an accident
- Mischief – render property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective
- Failure to comply with undertaking – four counts
The accused was remanded into custody after appearing at a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
